Oxygen is a chemical element with symbol O and atomic number 8.Oxygen was discovered independently by Carl Wilhelm Scheele, in Uppsala, in 1773 or earlier, and Joseph Priestley in Wiltshire, in 1774, but Priestley is often given priority because his work was published first. The name oxygen was coined in 1777 by Antoine Lavoisier
At standard temperature and pressure, oxygen is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas with the molecular formula O 2, referred to as dioxygen

SOME FACTS!!!

Approximately 2/3 fraction of the mass of the human body is oxygen!!

Ozone is found in the atmosphere and helps to protect us from harmful radiation. Ozone is 03

The element name 'oxygen' comes from Greek words meaning:acid-producing

Oxygen is flammable, reacts with iron to form rust, and is found in air, so any of the answers would make sense. The word oxygen comes from the Greek words oxys, which means sharp or acid and genes, which means former or born.

Before 1961, the atomic weight standard for elements was based on oxygen and not carbon.

Earth has been oxygenated for about 2.3 billion to 2.4 billion years, and levels began to creep up at least 2.5 billion years ago, according to a 2007 NASA-funded study.
